Model Use Restrictions

Publicly available models may have restrictions on their commercial use.

📋 Description

External Models (e.g. Gemini, Llama or Phi) can have different restrictions on use. These restrictions may be shared as part of the model's license, Acceptable Use policy or a Terms of Service. Common clauses that may affect use include:

- Commercial Use: Some providers ban or require a special additional license when the system is used for commercial purposes
- New Model Training: Some providers ban using system outputs to train other models
- Professional Advice: Some providers ban using the model to provide advice for critical settings like medical, legal and financial.
- Political Use: Some providers ban models from being used in political settings.

An insufficient review of these agreements or restrictions can result in legal action if it is determined that an organization’s model usage does not comply with the accompanying terms.
